A short preview of my MidemNet presentation on Music & ISPs

I will be making good use of my precious 10 minute slot during MidemNet on  “The big issue – How can music & ISPs work together" on next Saturday, January 17th at 5.30 pm (see the latest MidemNet program, here). I plan to speak about why I think the current music market is basically dysfunctional i.e. not working, why we urgently need a new blanket license for Internet music (on-demand streaming, and downloading) that is similar to what we already have for radio & broadcasting (i.e. a collective or a compulsory license that is made available to anyone), why all the efforts of controlling music content online have failed to generate relevant future revenue streams for the creators (rather than just the lawyers), and what the alternatives will be. Here, below, are a few screen-shots taken from my presentation (which is still work-in-progress). If you want to tell me what you think about this, so far, please ping me via Twitter or any of these ways, or just comment below.

I hope to see you there, either way.  If you need more fancy slides before that... well, I happen to have a few ready for you, at Slideshare.
